The USDS Edge Operations team builds and manages the infrastructure and networks in multiple PoP locations to support TikTok's rapid growth. The goals of the team are to support rapid deployment in new edge locations, efficient and secure management of production infrastructure, and the decommission of infrastructure as we transition to larger facilities and new generations of hardware and architectures..

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.

Responsibilities:
- Deploy and manage edge and CDN networks
- Develop software to achieve network management automation, intelligence and observability, and to improve network delivery efficiency and stability
- Establish processes and procedures for operations and turn-ups
- Diagnose root causes of network issues, participate in an on-call rotation and be an escalation point for service incidents
- Work with external vendors and ISPs for device and carrier selection, perform testing and verification.
- Optimize the edge network from both performance and cost perspectives, by analyzing data, setting up peering and applying various traffic engineering tools
- Occasional U.S. travel may be required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python and Shell scripting; Python highly preferred.
- Master's degree (or Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience) in Computer Science, Computing Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience in configuration and maintenance of network devices and NMS systems, or applications such as web servers, load balancers
- Experience developing and understanding network device configuration for at least one vendor (Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Ciena, etc.)
- Experience understanding and mitigating network hardware and topology failures

Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem - HDFS, Yarn, Spark, etc.
- Self-driven and capable of working with ambiguity and moving projects from concept to delivery.
- Experience in building solutions with AWS, Google, Azures and other cloud services.
- Experience in networking technologies such TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, etc. in a carrier-grade environment.
- Experience in developing and operating one or more of following systems: OpenStack, Kubernetes, Nginx, ipvs, ELK stack, Hadoop, etc.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $102400 - $220230 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
