Responsibilities
About the Team
This role sits within our Global Communications team and will work closely with the local TikTok Shop Operations, Business and Product teams in Germany as well as cross-functional legal, policy teams. This role will be critical in supporting TikTok Shop's expansion into Germany with core responsibilities including building local narratives, devising communications strategies and advising business and product teams on a range of topics including product positioning, market trends and external issues.

- Lead TikTok Shop communications efforts in Germany, and be the first point of contact for local TikTok Shop operations and business teams
- Craft clear, compelling narratives that advance TikTok Shop's business goals and resonate with sellers, creators, and buyers.

- Build strong relationships with top-tier nationals and trade press, proactively securing coverage, managing inquiries, and managing sensitive news cycles and issues as they arise.
- In partnership with market comms leads in Germany, handle inbound press inquiries and engage with media on a range of issues.
- Review TikTok Shop externally facing content in German including seller communications, presentations, seasonal promotions, logistics updates and more for accuracy and reputational risks.
- Train and coach local market executives and subject-matter experts, equipping them with concise messaging for interviews and in-person events. Staff interviews and events on site.
- Work cross-functionally with regional and global communications teams based on regional and market needs to drive clear narratives about our business product, partnerships and vision.
- Serve as the primary Communications point of contact for local cross functional partners (marketing, operations, policy, legal, creator partnerships), ensuring message alignment and advising on market trends, potential risks, and opportunities specific to the German market.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Fluent in German and English (speaking and writing)
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience required
- 7+ years of experience in relevant field
- Proven understanding of the German media landscape
- Deep understanding of public opinions and media sentiment about commerce
- An excellent communicator (both written and verbal) who can successfully build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally
- A highly resilient team player who can lead projects and strong project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in social media, Internet and technology companies
- Experience working in cross-border, multi-cultural environment is preferred
- Ability to cope well and gain trust with internal stakeholders, proven track record of working in a dynamic and large organization is preferred
- Ability to multitask efficiently under pressure and ambiguity, with self-starting and motivated attitudes in a cross-cultural and fast-paced environment
- Understanding of the e-commerce + marketplace landscape as well as knowledge and experience of e-commerce products is preferred.
