Responsibilities
The Trust & Safety Policy team develops and reviews our community policies to promote a positive and safe environment for all of our Users and Content Creators to enjoy and express themselves. This role will design the global approach to the AI Generated Content, including researching and drafting policies, advising on critical escalations, and devising strategies to mitigate harm from novel challenges presented by AI generated content. The Policy Lead will collaborate with cross-functional enforcement partners, brief policy proposals to senior company leadership, engage with external experts, and coordinate closely with product, communications, and government relations teams.
As the AIGC Product Policy Lead, you will serve as TikTok's expert on AI generated content, working to develop policies that protect our users from harmful AI generated content and developing strategies to ensure a safe ecosystem. In this role, you will work to support our AIGC policy efforts in a global Trust & Safety organization, including working closely with Product teams to develop strategies to detect, disperse, and enforce on harmful AI content. You will do this by supporting the development of relevant policies that govern the TikTok platform, as well as providing colleagues with an understanding of how the AI generated content space is evolving as AI tools are adopted by more and more users.

It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role/as part of project/ in response to escalation requests/by chance. This may occur in the form of images, video, and text related to every-day life, but it can also include (but is not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child safety; depictions of harm to self and others, and harm to animals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop TikTok's overall policy strategy related to AI generated content and lead development of global platform policies (e.g., in the form of policy titles, operational guidance documents).
- Lead policy development for emergent risks posed by AIGC.
- Partner closely with Product and enforcement teams to ensure the timely detection and enforcement of harmful AIGC and to develop strategies to stay ahead of new threats posed by AIGC.
- Engage with Legal and Public Policy teams to ensure compliance with key regulations and serve as a T&S point of contact for any potential new regulations on AIGC.
- Act as a global escalation point of contact for AI generated content, and align all stake-holders and leadership to respond to escalations and enable emergency policy decisions.
- Remain up-to-date on industry trends and emerging issues in the AIGC space.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in political science, government, cybersecurity communications, law or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in technology, government, or civil society focused on addressing social media harms, misinformation, or content policy.
- Expertise on AI generated content and abuse vectors on social media.
- Experience with international technology/online content and social media issues.
- Facility with operating in fast-paced, complex cross-functional environments.
- Ability to quickly identify problems, thoroughly analyze them, and deliver feasible policy solutions.
- Technical fluency to understand product dependencies for content moderation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work on AI Generated Content.
- Experience in launching new strategies and Zero-to-One initiatives.
- Advanced degree in law, policy, political science, engineering, cybersecurity or other related field.
- Previous experience at a social media platform company.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $147000 - $270000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location.
