Sr Investment Accountant - Financial Reporting

The Senior Investment Accountant ensures that investment accounting policies and procedures are correctly applied to financial transactions. Under minimal supervision, this job works directly with asset management, portfolio management and acquisition/disposition teams. 



Key Responsibilities and Duties

  •  Review timely and accurate GAAP work papers and supporting schedules to satisfy all investment accounting requirements for internal and external audits.

  •  Review financial information to ensure compliance with investment accounting policies and procedures (sales, acquisitions, debt refinancing, REIT restructuring, and financial performance).

  •  Incorporate frequent ad hoc financial inquiries into the monthly and quarterly reports, adding value by providing management insight into the activities of the TIAA/Nuveen Mutual Funds.

  • Provide guidance to junior Investment Accountants regarding issues that require more advanced knowledge and experience.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

    • 3 years of experience with financial services products (i.e. mutual funds) and related regulatory filings (i.e. 40 Act and SEC)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5 years of experience with financial services products (i.e. mutual funds) and related regulatory filings (i.e. 40 Act and SEC)
    • Financial reporting experience   
    • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance  
    • Working knowledge of investment company accounting principles  
    • Ability to organize and prioritize competing priorities to meet deadlines  
    • CPA is a plus
    • MS Office; Excel (V-look ups and Pivot Tables)
    • Familiarity with Confluence Financial Reporting System a plus 

    ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support in the preparation and perform certain reviews of schedules of investments and financial statements filed on SEC Forms N-PORT and N-CSR
    • Review Fund holding summaries and total return performance, and research senior management questions related to MDFP
    • Participate in projects such as system implementations, maintenance and enhancements
    • May serve as the department expert for one of the departments systems or processes

    Potential Salary: $95,000.00 USD

    Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
