Senior Engineer
The Information Systems Engineer designs information systems that are appropriate for users' needs and consistent with the overall design of the organization's information systems architecture. Under limited supervision, this job is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's operating systems.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Formulates system scope through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems.

  • Evaluates and implements changes to existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.

  • Reviews flow charts, models, and procedures and feasibility studies to design possible system solutions.

  • Reviews technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.

  • Collaborates with system analysts, engineers, and programmers to design systems and to determine project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, systems performance standards, and interfaces.

  • Identifies and documents all system constraints, implications and consequences of various proposed system changes.

  • Educates end users on system designs and functionalities through creation of training materials and conducting demos.

  • Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of application operations and troubleshooting problems.

    The Citrix / VDI Operations Engineer will be responsible for enhancement, support & upkeep of the Virtual Desktop and Published Application environment at TIAA.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Responsible for the development and implementation of end-to-end Citrix system architectures and designs to support emerging business needs
    • Management of Citrix virtualization technologies as we grow to approximately 15,000 users
    • Work with customers to determine their functional needs, translating customer needs into hardware/software requirements for existing or new hardware/software applications
    • Act as the technical expert for Citrix integration projects
    • Provide Tier III support to deployed systems
    • Participate in functional or user acceptance testing to ensure final products meets the customer's needs
    • Review and document functionality of existing XenApp legacy applications
    • Create test plans, installation guides, technical specifications, and white papers as required
    • Lead in the review and research of new technologies in response to project requirements and business needs
    • Develop implementation and support plans through migration from POC / lab through test and ultimately to production environments
    • Monitor and recognize constraints of specific infrastructure architectures and provide alternate scalable solutions in order to meet business and project requirements
    • Provide end-to-end support for the VDI systems involving incidents & requests in the support queue.
    • Manage patching of Citrix Servers for Microsoft & other 3rd Party Vulnerabilities.
    • Generate data & prepare operational reports.
    • Provide Tier III support to deployed systems.
    • Work with customers to determine their functional needs, translating customer needs into hardware/software requirements for existing or new hardware/software applications.
    • Act as the technical expert for Citrix integration projects.
    • Participate in functional or user acceptance testing.
    • Review and document functionality of existing Citrix Environment.
    • Create test plans, installation guides & operating procedures for the environment.
    • Test, document & perform Citrix infrastructure component upgrades.
    • Monitor and recognize constraints in infrastructure and identify alternates.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required Experience

    • Eight or more years of current Citrix architecture / support experience leveraging tools such as:
      • Citrix XenApp & XenDesktop 7.x
      • Citrix Provisioning Services 7.x
      • Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS)
      • Citrix StoreFront
      • Citrix ADC (Netscaler) 12.x, 13.x
      • VMware vSphere 6.x.
      • AD Domain & Group Policy.

    • Knowledge & experience with:
      • Active Directory Group Policies / Citrix Policies for VDI
      • Managing & migrating Desktops on Cloud / DaaS / Citrix Cloud.
      • Automation using PowerShell.
      • Nutanix Hyper Converged Infrastructure.
      • Citrix App Layering / VMware App Volumes.
      • Fslogix profile management
      • Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
      • Service Now integration for Automation.
      • Microsoft Azure

    Desired Qualifications

    • Citrix certifications preferred.
    • Microsoft Azure Certifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer or information science preferred.
