Lead Middleware Manager

TIAA is seeking a Lead Middleware Engineer with developer experience to be part of a structured Middleware engineering organization specializing in Application technologies and services. This individual is expected to have in depth understanding of virtualization, containerization, CI/CD and orchestration platforms as well as a strong background in Web Application development and hosting technologies. They should have the ability to engineer, develop and onboard products and solutions supporting application modernization strategies such as refactorization, Microservices, API(s) and migration to Public Cloud migration.



Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Engineer existing and new solutions for operational efficiency leveraging automation 
  • Develop application simulations to evaluate new middleware solutions
  • Develop new or enhance existing API(s) promoting self service solutions
  • Leverage Continuous Delivery Pipelines for fast, reliable and consistent deployments
  • Assess, engineer and promote opportunities to leverage Public Cloud where appropriate
  • Assess, engineer and promote opportunities to leverage containerization where appropriate  
  • Plan, Engineer and Certify new Middleware software releases or upgrades
  • Assess, evaluate and engineer solutions for efficiencies to enhance productivity and reduce cost

  • 5 or more years’ engineering middleware technologies
  • 3 or more years’ application or software development experience
  • 2 years’ experience engineering and developing solutions for containers
  • 2 years’ experience engineering solutions for Public Cloud

Desired Skills:

  • Developer skills in any of the following languages Java, Java Script (jQuery, dojo)/CSS/HTML, Python, GoLang, YAML, JSON, PROMQL, JQL, SPL
  • Knowledge of Application architecture -  i.e Microservices, REST, JVM (Java - Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate), NodeJS
  • Networking concepts: VPC; VPN; Cider Notation; Load Bal; TLS; Cert Management
  • DevOps Tools: Puppet, Docker, Ansible, GIT, Gradle/Maven, CI/CD
  • Solution Testing: Automated Performance and Regression/Functional Testing
  • API/Security: Mulesoft, Ping Identity, Kong;

Potential Salary: $140,000.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
