This is a Non-Employee Contingent Worker Role providing services for TIAA’s family of companies and will be employed by TIAA's preferred 3rd Party Supplier. As a Non-Employee CW, perform a variety of moderately complex business planning, support, and project-related duties. Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality and holds themselves accountable to achieving excellent results.

This role is located onsite at our TIAA office in Charlotte, NC, USA but will currently be remote.

The anticipated term of this engagement will be 10 months. This term could be extended based on company business needs.


The Analyst, Investment Trade Settlements job ensures timely and accurate settlement of trade and transfer obligations for the investment function, supporting the management of capital on behalf of pensions, endowments, corporate plan sponsors, and other institutional investors. Working under limited supervision, this job performs basic processing and service activities pertinent to trade settlements.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Processes routine trade transactions, ensuring compliance with the organization's regulatory policies, procedures and standards.

  • Ensures timely and accurate settlement of trade and transfer obligations in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

  • Resolves routine trade settlement issues in a timely manner.

  • Escalates complex trade settlement issues to management where appropriate.

  • Interfaces with custodians, brokers and clients on confirmation and/or settlement issues.

  • Performs daily reconciliations of trade activities.

  • Processes trade settlement transactions in accordance with investment restrictions, laws, Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), and tax codes.

Nuveen is seeking an Analyst, Investment Operations to support our Fixed Income Trading Operations group.  The ideal candidate will function as an operations support analyst in the Global Investment Operations area.  This person will work as a part of a dynamic team in a rapidly growing fixed income trading environment.  The individual is expected to possess strong problem solving and analytical skills, as well as a thorough understanding of fixed income products and trading markets and the processes and tools to support them.    

Responsibilities:

               

  • Provide support for fixed income trading desks for all asset types including:  IG corporates, high-yield, US Treasury, repo and reverse repos, emerging markets, structured and mortgage-backed securities.

  • Responsible for the receipt of counterparty trade confirmations and matching of those confirmations against Nuveen’s trade details

  • Management of mismatched and missing confirmations

  • Communication of trade activity to custodians, fund administrators, and other interested parties

  • Management of failed trades

  • Provide oversight in relevant systems throughout the day and work with internal/external customers & service providers to quickly resolve any trade/settlement related issues;

  • Communicate effectively with traders at all levels and build strong working relationships with them. 

  • Utilize trade entry systems, trade flow and storage systems, and trade processing systems effectively and efficiently to maximize productivity. 

  • Continuous improvement mindset to capitalize on straight through processing, speed and accuracy of systems and procedures; communicate in functional teams to complete daily tasks, share market and systems knowledge, and preserve and grow strong trading relationships with internal/external customers. 

  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. 

Requirements:

  • BS/BA Degree

  • One to Three years of related fixed income investment operations experience

  • Basic understanding of the lifecycle of a trade from execution to settlement

  • Basic understanding of SWIFT messaging and format

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with an ability to understand complex workflows

  • Good understanding of operational risks and controls

  • Team player, detail oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize effectively

  • Self starter with a high level of energy

  • Proficient utilization of Microsoft Excel and other MS OFFICE products

  • Good communication skills and strong customer service skills

  • Thorough knowledge of a variety of fixed income instruments

  • Experience with Order Management & Trade Processing Systems:  (Bloomberg AIM, Charles River Investment Management Solution, DTCC CTM and ALERT, BBH Infomediary)

Potential Salary: $45.19 USD
