TIAA Business Finance Officer (BFO) team is looking for a Director level Business Unit Finance leader to partner with our Client Services & Technology (CS&T) team specifically supporting part of our Digital Platform Technology team. Provides opportunity to work at the intersection of finance and technology areas. The BFO team is comprised of the Business Area CFOs who provide the Executive Committee (EC) and Business Areas with relationship management and decision support through the use of management reporting, future-focused analytics, predictive modeling capabilities, decision tools and problem-solving support to help drive our businesses financial planning, budgeting and forecasting requirements; and supports the CFP&A team to achieve accurate allocation of expenses and revenue alignment to corporate entities and product lines.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops, maintains and strengthens relationships with key business partners  to enable effective development of budgets, strategic plans and forecasts, as well as, financial stewardship and counsel.

  • Networks with the area Leadership Team to provide key analysis and data for business decision making.  Regularly interacts with executives, peers and business unit managers involving special skills such as negotiating with management, attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of importance to the organization or presenting budgets, forecasts or other relevant data.

  • Confers with executives, peers and other managers to discuss business activities relative to process, timing, policies, procedures and management reports to resolve problems and recommend solutions.

  • Providing financial leadership, guidance and analysis in a clear and simple way. Being able to tell the business story and develop and deliver influential communications to drive business outcomes. 

  • Manages the preparation of executive decks, management analytical packages, initiative business cases and detailed review of financial results prepared for management and the development of annual budget and strategic plans.

  • Conducts trend analyses relating to spend to prepare strategic / tactical recommendations for achieving annual and multi-year goals.

  • Evaluates existing reports and manages the development of new reports in response to changing report requirements.

  • Deep engagement with all business segments to proactively develop and deliver consistent timely and simplified financial analytics, education and counsel to guide decision making.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of finance or financial planning and analysis experience 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of financial planning and analysis experience
  • College graduate or Post graduate degree: MBA / Masters / CFA / CPA 
  • Post graduate degree in Finance or related field
  • Prior Technology and related finance experience 
  • Ad-hoc analysis and project finance skills 
  • Broad understanding and experience with Financial Services / Insurance companies
  • Ability to manage and develop a large matrix organization working closely with other senior management to build effective and efficient financial plans. 
  • Superior relationship building and communication skills (both verbal and written).

ADDITIONAL WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads budgeting, planning and managing expense priorities. 
  • Manages, through Center of Excellence (COE) team, the coordination of the activities within the function with responsibility for achieving results.
  • Works with the team to determine methods and procedures on unique or special assignments requiring specialized expertise and insight to direct outcomes.
  • Organizes, orchestrates and monitors complex sets of activities, people and resources over extended periods of time. 
  • Ensures that adequate staff and other resources are trained, available and assigned to meet operating objectives.
  • The position plays a key role supporting the long term growth strategy of our company and ensures we have the proper service that supports this vision.
  • Analytical skills are required to pull business relevant commentary from the financial data. 
  • Must have the ability to problem solve medium to high complex situations to provide relevant financial advice to the business unit. 
  • Able to assess financial risks and opportunities impacting the business.

Potential Salary: $180,100.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
