U.S. Race and Justice Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist)

Washington, DC

Reuters is seeking a skilled and ambitious U.S.-based correspondent to lead coverage on the intersection of race, justice, gender and government. This journalist will pursue stories of global significance that will explore how policy decisions and programs impact communities across the country -- and the drivers, or people, behind those decisions. As a U.S.-based correspondent on the global race and justice team, you will build a body of work across the Reuters news file - from politics and public policy to criminal justice, policing, health, economics and financial markets and more.

The successful candidate will pair investigative rigor with narrative reporting, exposing inequities while centering voices and perspectives of impacted communities. Reporting to the Global Race and Justice Editor, you will help the team produce exclusive news, compelling human-interest stories and deeply reported, revelatory and agenda-setting enterprise and investigative stories. This individual will work closely with colleagues around the world.
