Join Thomson Reuters as Product Manager, Information Architect and help shape the next generation of Westlaw for Australia. We're seeking a Product Manager, Information Architecture to model legal content, define data and metadata requirements, and partner with other product managers, engineering and editorial to power world-class research experiences, including features that leverage responsible legal AI.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Product Manager, Information Architect (Westlaw Australia), you will:

  • Analyze Australian primary and secondary legal content to design and define schemas for legislation, regulations, and cross‑references; manage canonical identifiers, versioning/consolidation, and provenance.
  • Translate user problems and business goals into clear, testable product requirements, acceptance criteria, and data/metadata specifications that drive UX features and search quality.
  • Partner with Search/Relevance, Data Science, and UX on query understanding, synonymy, intent classification, result ranking, and recommendations grounded in legal relationships and precedential value.
  • Establish data quality KPIs and SLAs (accuracy, completeness, timeliness, consistency); implement validation frameworks, audits, and feedback loops with editorial and engineering.
  • Collaborate with content partners and engineering on ingestion standards, mappings, and normalization.
  • Use analytics (usage logs, relevance metrics), research, and experimentation (AB tests, offline judgments) to iterate IA and structured data.
  • Contribute to AI‑enabled features by defining enrichment signals, retrieval indexes, prompts/guardrails, and evaluation datasets with a focus on accuracy, explainability, and risk management.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Product Manager, Information Architect (Westlaw Australia), if you have the following required qualifications:

  • 7+ years in information architecture or product design for complex information systems; legal domain experience (background in legal tech and publishing) strongly preferred.
  • Degree(s) in relevant fields such as qualifications in Information/Library Science, Knowledge Management, Computer Science (Information Systems), or Law; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and documenting information architectures and data requirements for complex information systems; strong knowledge of Australian legal research workflows and content types.
  • Proficiency with JSON/XML schemas, APIs, content pipelines, and search platforms (e.g., Elasticsearch/Solr); practical SQL and/or scripting for data profiling and prototyping.
  • Experience with knowledge graphs or graph databases; ontology/taxonomy design; comfort with identifiers, versioning, lineage, and provenance.
  • Ability to translate user needs into clear requirements and acceptance criteria; excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Track record improving findability/relevance or task completion outcomes using structured data and IA and commitment to responsible AI and curiosity about how AI can safely enhance legal research.

Additional preferred qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with Australian legal citations and publishing standards (e.g., AGLC, medium‑neutral and parallel citations), citators, legislative consolidation, and update cycles.
  • Experience with LLM‑assisted enrichment, retrieval‑augmented generation, prompt design, evaluation frameworks, and red‑teaming for professional/legal contexts.
  • Collaborative, outcome‑oriented, and user‑centric; able to operate in ambiguity, iterate quickly, and scale standards across large content sets.
  • Thrives in a small, high‑trust team environment, ensuring outputs are honed for accuracy and clarity.
