About the Role :

In this opportunity as Manager - Data Policies and Controlyou will:

  • Data Strategy: Own the Data Control and Governance Strategy.
  • Policy Development: Draft detailed policies/standards for each area, incorporating industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Approval and Communication: Obtain approval from senior management and communicate policies/standards to all employees.
  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions to ensure employees understand and adhere to the policies.
  • Monitoring and Enforcement: Implement monitoring tools and processes to enforce compliance with the policies.
  • Review and Update: Regularly review and update policies to reflect changes in regulations, technology, and business needs.
  • Data Risk and Control framework: Establish framework and oversee, monitor inherent and residual risks changes, control implementations and documentations.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure adherence to data policies and controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote data Control/governance best practices and data literacy.
  • Design and own data control/governance Objectives and Key Results (OKR) to optimize existing capabilities, develop new/efficient solutions
  • Timely reporting OKR/performance/Escalations to senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Participate in data governance committees and working groups.

About You:

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or risk management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of governance frameworks, regulatory compliance requirements, and data standards, or a related role.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Exceptional ability to make timely and effective decisions to meet fluid deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of multi-jurisdictional requirements.
  • Experience with data control and governance frameworks and analytics tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan, AI/BI Tools).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Experience in designing and managing KPIs, and OKRs for data control/ governance.
  • Certification in data management or governance (e.g., CDMP, CIPP) is a plus.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in data control and governance practices.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Global/regional/Local laws and regulations. (Privacy, Data Protection, AIDA, EUAI etc)
  • Analytical/Problem Solving Skills: Ability to analyse data and processes to identify areas for improvement and recommend sustainable automated solutions.
  • Communication: Strong ability to communicate complex data policies and procedures clearly.
  • Leadership: Capable of leading data governance initiatives and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Metrics for Success:
  • Compliance Rate: Achieve and maintain a 100% compliance rate with data standards, internal policies adherence and Global/Regional/Local laws
  • Audit Findings: Minimize the number of audit findings related to data governance and compliance by 50% within the first year
  • Employee Training: Increase the number of employees trained in data controls and governance by 50% within the first year.
  • Policy Adoption: Ensure 80% adoption of new data policies and procedures across the organization.
