We are seeking a talented and motivated Legal Executive (Japanese Speaking) to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with leadership to research, draft, and deliver clear, accurate, and up-to-date legal content for online publication. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Japanese legal landscape, exceptional writing and translation skills, and the ability to foster relationships with external partners. Additional responsibilities include supporting business development efforts, mentoring team members, and contributing to the ongoing growth and success of our legal knowledge base.

  • Conduct legal research, analysis, and writing, producing clear and accurate summaries, headnotes, abstracts, and other legal content.
  • Review, edit, and verify legal information prepared by colleagues and external contributors, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and quality.
  • Identify key legal issues and propose enhancements to improve the quality and value of legal content.
  • Adhere to editorial schedules and maintain high publishing standards.
  • Collaborate with various departments on the business aspects of legal publications.
  • Stay updated on legal developments and trends relevant to your editorial responsibilities, continuously developing your legal knowledge and skills.
  • Contribute to team projects, actively participate in discussions, and help resolve editorial or production issues.
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members, and participate in performance evaluations.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Legal Executive (Japanese Speaking) if you have the following required qualifications:

  • Legal qualification and certification to practice law in any jurisdiction.
  • Significant post-qualification experience as a practicing lawyer (law firm, in-house, or government)
  • Fluency in Japanese and strong English writing skills
  • Excellent communication, editorial, and writing skills, with attention to detail and the ability to explain complex legal topics clearly
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, with experience managing multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Proficiency in online legal research databases
  • Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment
