Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified or recently practising commercial lawyer with deep experience in SaaS contracting and a strong understanding of AI-related legal considerations to join our Knowledge & Policy Team, within the GCO Customers & Commercial Practice Group. This is a specialist role focused on maintaining and constantly innovating our customer contracting framework, including our terms and conditions playbooks, template agreements, and know-how materials. You'll help strategically shape how our legal team negotiates and drafts by ensuring we provide state of the art, clear, practical, and commercially aligned guidance.

About The Role:
- Stay on top of modern cloud and SaaS developments, draft and update template contracts, clauses, and supporting guidance using industry best practices, ensuring alignment with evolving business and legal risk appetite.
- Maintain and continuously improve/innovate our customer contract playbook, including fallback positions and rationale for use in negotiations with an aim to enhance the customer experience and shorten the journey to signature
- Partner with legal team members to remove friction or ambiguity in contracting, bring speed, create real leverage and propose clear, scalable improvements to create the best contracting experience in the industry for our customers.
- Monitor legal developments and market trends, particularly in SaaS and AI, and translate them into actionable guidance for the legal team.
- Support knowledge-sharing initiatives and lead the creation and delivery of resources to inspire and upskill legal colleagues.
- Act as an owner on contracting positions, helping drive consistency and quality in negotiations across the legal team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, sales, commercial policy, and risk & compliance teams to ensure playbook positions reflect broader business objectives.
About You:
- Qualified lawyer (or equivalent experience) with substantial in-house or law firm experience negotiating complex SaaS and technology contracts.
- Deep understanding of key contracting issues in SaaS, including data, privacy, liability, IP, AI use, and service levels.
- Strong drafting skills and a passion for innovating contracts using clear, concise, and user-friendly legal language.
- Practical and commercial mindset, with the ability to translate legal risk into business-aligned guidance.
- Genuine desire to move into a strategic knowledge support role
- A self-starter with a genuine interest in legal innovation, transformation, know-how, process improvement, consistency, and enabling scalable legal support.
- Collaborative, curious and communicative, with experience working in or alongside policy, legal operations, or knowledge management teams.
Desirable:
- Experience developing or managing a legal playbook or knowledge hub.
- Familiarity with generative AI use cases in legal contracting or legal tech tools.
