The mission of this is about turning casual users into loyal, returning readers by creating sticky, differentiated product touchpoints that reflect the full value of a subscription. You'll identify growth levers, uncover user motivations, and work cross-functionally to experiment, iterate, and scale impactful product experiences. Your roadmap will range from big bets to quick iterations that continuously remove friction for our users.

This is an ideal role for a product leader who thrives at the intersection of user behavior and growth strategy.

How You'll Support the Mission
  • Define and own the growth strategy for high-potential engagement features, including user onboarding, re-engagement loops, and repeat-use incentives.
  • Drive adoption and habitual use of our core engagement features by identifying growth opportunities, partnering across product areas, and ensuring these experiences are discoverable, compelling, and integrated into the user journey.
  • Run experiments to validate hypotheses, optimize activation and retention, and identify new opportunities for impact.
  • Collaborate closely with our growth and brand teams to build experiences that are deeply aligned with our subscription strategies.
  • Use data and user insights to prioritize the roadmap, define success metrics, and continuously improve product performance.
  • Champion a test-and-learn mindset, helping establish scalable frameworks for rapid experimentation and iterative improvement.
  • Balance short-term wins with long-term habit-building, contributing to a portfolio of features that drive durable engagement.
The Skills and Experience You Bring

  • Demonstrated success driving growth, engagement, or habit formation through iterative experimentation.
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable working with data to generate insights, define KPIs, and prioritize decisions.
  • Familiarity with engagement mechanics (e.g., notifications, gamification, social features) and growth loops.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments, with a strong bias toward action.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in navigating the needs of editorial, design, and engineering partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on a consumer-facing subscription product.
  • Advanced degree in business, technology, data science or related field.
  • Passion for journalism and building products that inform, inspire, and connect users.
