Job Description

The Washington Post Creative Group is the award-winning in-house branded content studio of The Washington Post. We are a high-performing, world-class team of strategists, creatives, writers, producers, editors, visual artists and UX designers who believe that storytelling can change the way we see the world and our place within it. Working at the convergence of technology and consequential journalism, we produce branded stories and experiences for advertisers across a diverse array of categories. We are looking for a Senior Creative to lead the execution of branded stories and experiences for our B2C and B2B advertisers.

Job Summary

Senior Creative, Creative Execution is a writing and editing-focused content execution role within a team of brand storytellers who think big for major brands. This role is primarily responsible for shaping sold concepts into engaging and high-performing multiplatform, multimedia content for key clients. Our work is dynamic, merging cutting-edge creative formats and human-driven narratives. The ideal candidate will have a solid track record of both writing and editing audience-first stories for major news and media publishers and working with brand partners to ideate, pitch and produce digital, social and experiential content that drives business goals. They should also have a collaborative spirit, a proactive, problem-solving mindset, a strong creative point of view and boundless diplomacy. They are passionate about the power and need for consequential journalism and the opportunity that The Washington Post provides brand partners. This role will report to the Associate Director, Creative Execution and will work closely with team members across creative strategy, audio/video production, design and account management to deliver engaging and impactful branded content experiences of the highest quality.

Responsibilities
  • Lead turning ambitious content proposals for key clients into exceptional, award-worthy content experiences that match the quality of our media parent's editorial, push the boundaries of innovative storytelling and provably perform with our audiences.
  • Source experts, thought leaders and content creators for stories and conduct interviews to create content that elicits emotional connections and has journalistic credibility.
  • Cultivate, assign and oversee a network of excellent freelance writers and contributors.
  • Bring a strong, but diplomatic, creative point-of-view that makes you a go-to for input, advice and ideas.
  • Present creative ideas clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders and incorporate feedback.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across creative strategy, audio/video production and design to ensure finished products exceed client expectations.
  • Forge deep and trusted creative partnerships with key clients over the lifecycle of projects.
  • Bring an ability to both pay superlative attention to detail and switch on a dime to generate big creative ideas.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in a journalism or content creation role.
  • Proven experience ideating, pitching and producing award-winning content experiences for B2C and B2B brands at a media property.
  • Experience assigning and overseeing freelance writers and content contributors.
  • Experience writing and editing for digital media publications, journalism qualifications preferred.
  • A strong background in creating human-centric stories that exceed performance goals.
  • Excellent verbal presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with presentation and team productivity tools including PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides.
  • Experience across the full palette of branded content: print, digital, video, audio, AR/VR, social and experiential.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners.
The Washington Post's policy for employees is five days per week in the office, with exceptions for newsgathering and general business travel.

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.

The salary range for this position is:
85,100.00 - 127,700.00 USD Annual

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
