The Washington Post is looking for careful, nimble researchers to join its Opinions section. They will ensure all factual material included in articles is correct and supported with reliable sources, ensuring high standards of accuracy. They will also work with multimedia editors to check facts in our graphics, audio and video products as needed.
The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and thrive working in high-pressure news environments. They will be able to efficiently multitask and pivot between articles across a variety of subject areas. They will also have strong communication skills and feel comfortable working with opinion editors and other team members on tight schedules. They should feel comfortable adopting new systems, tools and technology to bolster their work.
This is an opportunity to support an ambitious team of opinion journalists working to reach audiences across all of America. The role will report to the deputy opinion editor overseeing bylined pieces.

- Review Opinion stories to ensure they contain accurate factual material, including names, dates and figures.
- Communicate with editors about inaccuracies or facts that need further support.
- Use trusted sources to verify information and ensure stories are up-to-date.
- Monitor the op-ed inbox to send promising submissions to op-ed editors.
- This position may include some work in the evenings or weekends.
- 1+ years of experience with a publishing organization.
- Previous experience fact-checking is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy.

The salary range for this position is:
$73,600 - $110,400 Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
