Why This Role Matters
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers who play a crucial role in building and maintaining services critical to the subscriber lifecycle, encompassing user registration, subscription purchase, subscription management, and retention. This individual will drive the development of scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions to ensure a seamless experience for our subscribers.

- Mentor and coach talented frontend and backend engineers
- Recruit new engineers and grow a strong team
- Prioritize and delegate tasks effectively
- Manage team members across projects in a fast paced cross functional environment
- Provide foundational support and empower team members to own their work
- Drive forward and provide a vision on engineering goals and technology usage
- Work with stakeholders in engineering, product, and news to prioritize milestones and mitigate business risks
- Manage an on call cycle and ensure constant coverage on critical systems
- Take ownership of stability of our site rendering systems
- Ensure uptime and resilience on critical systems
- Provide powerful insights by surfacing metrics and performance data to other engineering teams
- Work closely with stakeholders
- Work closely with other engineering teams to understand their needs and provide technical solutions to their front end needs
- Establish and foster a standard of engineer excellence that will maintain stability and quality across all of our systems
- Ensure quality code and deployment practices are being used by the team
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years experience engineering highly-scalable customer facing applications.
- 5+ years experience with back-end technologies like Java and NodeJS
- 1+ years experience managing software engineers.
- Experience architecting and implementing scalable SaaS or Cloud based applications.
- Experience leading the implementation of technical products and mentoring junior and senior developers.
- Experience building web applications on AWS.
- Experience with observability tools like Catchpoint, DataDog, LogRocket, and Splunk
- Experience with multiple database and event processing systems.
- Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with AI, including Github Copilot, as well as other tools to support code development or other work.
- 7+ years experience engineering highly-scalable customer facing applications.
- 7+ years experience with back-end technologies like Java and NodeJS
- 3+ years experience managing software engineers.
- Experience with React and Angular.
- Experience with devops teams that own the full engineering lifecycle.
- Experience with monitoring the health of production applications in an on-call rotation.
- Experience analyzing application and cloud environment performance.
- Experience working in a global business with customers in multiple time zones.

The salary range for this position is:
$144,600 - $241,100 Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
