We are seeking a Director of FP&A - Growth & Strategy to be a key financial leader, partnering with executive teams across B2C Subscription, B2B Enterprise Subscription, and other new growth initiatives and products. This individual will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, optimizing investments, and supporting data-driven decision-making to accelerate growth here at The Washington Post.

The ideal candidate is an experienced finance professional with a strong analytical mindset, deep understanding of media business models, and the ability to translate financial insights into actionable strategies.

How You'll Support the Mission
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive financial planning and analysis framework that aligns with our company's strategic objectives
  • Develop and manage financial models, forecasts, and budgets that inform our business planning and decision-making in the Growth organization
  • Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting to drive profitable growth across all revenue streams, including subscriptions, advertising, and emerging digital initiatives.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to senior leadership, helping to inform business decisions and drive growth initiatives
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth and innovation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Newsroom, Opinions, Sales, and Product, to drive revenue growth and optimize resource allocation
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our business
  • Lead and manage a team of financial analysts, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities
The Skills and Experience You Bring
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial planning & analysis, M&A, or corporate development at large organizations.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing and mentoring teams.
  • Proven success in driving financial strategy and growth in a dynamic, fast-changing business environment.
  • Expertise in interpreting complex financial data and delivering actionable insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative, performance-driven team culture.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline; MBA or CFA designation preferred.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with financial planning and analysis software, such as Oracle, SAP, Planful, Adaptive Insights or Anaplan
  • Knowledge of media industry trends and developments, including digital transformation and subscription-based models
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Familiarity with investment finance, corporate development and M&A processes and methods

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.

The salary range for this position is:
$149,900 - $278,300 Annual

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
