Job Description

As the Director, Consumer Industry Group at The Washington Post, you lead a cross-functional team in delivering top-tier client management, support, and business development. You will also be responsible for developing supporting client and agency relationships across accounts. The Director partners with marketing, pricing, planning and account management to improve the win rate across deals, strengthen The Washington Post in the market and improve communications across the business.

  • Develop, implement and adapt the Consumer Industry Group strategy to achieve industry goals and objectives
  • Deliver accurate forecasting to enable efficient planning and resource allocation
  • Utilize data-driven insights to identify trends and inform opportunities for revenue growth
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent on the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
  • Lead and inspire a diverse team, consisting of both direct reports and individuals with dotted lines to this role, within a matrixed organizational structure to provide an excellent customer experience
  • Build exceptional relationships with stakeholders and peers to foster a culture of results-driven collaboration
  • Own 1-2 key accounts within your team's portfolio
  • Nurture key client relationships, to drive client satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships
  • Work proactively with client partners to discover and convert newbusiness opportunities to diversify revenues
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a media organization
  • Experience in creating a culture and environment that enables high performance
  • Able to demonstrate versatility and flexibility in working with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate a strategic approach and acumen in previous roles
  • Experience managing complex, multi platform media accounts
  • Experience of leading organizational change is an advantage

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.

The Washington Post includes salary ranges for certain positions to comply with local pay transparency laws. The salary range for this position is:
144,480.00 - 268,320.00 USD Annual

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
