Trading Standards / Product Compliance Specialist (12 month fixed term contract)

The Merchandise Compliance Team partners with the European business to manage and improve product safety and compliance. Through partnering with internal and external stakeholders we provide high-level advice, drive required compliance changes and support the business through regulatory change and challenges. As part of the team you will support the Merchandise Compliance Manager in the delivery of the compliance strategy, responding to challenges and proactively supporting the business to minimise risks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

o Support the implementation of the Merchandise Compliance strategy, addressing both short- and medium-term priorities in the market and at TJX

o Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support the organisations ability to understand and comply with regulations and safety standards

o Unlock trading opportunity and support the growth of the business by providing expert advice to deal with regulations and risk

o Build relationships with stakeholders to gain understanding of future plans and potential compliance impacts

o Maintain required technical knowledge to be able to support the business to navigate challenges and minimise risks

o Contribute towards a wide range of projects by providing specialist advice and support to improve compliance in partnership with internal and external stakeholders

o Actively promote and role model our leadership competencies and cultural factors

o Communicate legislation changes and support to implement any required changes

o Identify trends to drive business activity to improve compliance

o Be a technical compliance expert for electrical products

o Be the one point of contact for advice and guidance to Buyers and vendors supporting them to buy safe and compliant products and open new vendors and product categories

o Constantly risk assess to balance compliance requirements and commercial decision making

o Monitor future Buying plans to ensure appropriate support is in place

o Provide training to Buying to upskill them in safety and compliance requirements

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Able to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Able to assess risk and support commercial decision-making

• Able to manage robust or challenging conversations

• Strong organisation skills in order to manage a busy workload

• Strong attention to detail

• Strong technical knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements for specific product category

• Experience providing advice and training in non-technical language
