What you'll do

The Global Merchandising Solutions Team is responsible for managing various merchandising, stores and distribution solutions within TJX IT. We are looking for a motivated, talented Engineering Manager with experience enabling strong engineering practices including DevSecOps, Quality Engineering, Automation solutions with a strong AI, Predictive Analytics and Software Engineering / Architecture experience to help architect enterprise solutions across global buying, planning and allocations. This role leverages your engineering skills and experience developing talent to keep the program on track and engineers doing their best work.

  • Leads with vision & architecture mindset to drive engineering and operational excellence to ensure the products delivered and maintained meet SLA's, KPI's, NFR's, compliance and engineering standards.
  • Partners with Stakeholders to drive solutions to meet business needs.
  • Accountable for the planning (inc. estimation / forecasting), execution and success of technical Epics, or technical aspects of larger Epics to achieve business outcomes.
  • Ensures mechanisms for technical oversight are in place whilst executing through skilled engineers, including spend, governance & decision making within the Product Team(s) or technical domain(s).
  • Accountable for creating and delivering an engineering roadmap for the assigned products, partnering with stakeholders to ensure alignment to Product Roadmaps, Business Strategies and Architectural standards.
  • Accountable for the product/platform health (i.e. reliability, quality, supportability) of these products/platforms, and for delivery on Engineering & Operational targets and standards.
  • Acts as first point of contact for strategic requests from a technology perspective for their scope of responsibility.
  • Serves as a liaison with other IT partners for technical matters relating to their own products (including security related aspects).
  • Influence technology, product, program management and business leaders to recommend solutions and articulate trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with the Platform Engineering and IT global organization for best practices, and to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for strategic decisions related to Software Engineering and Architecture best practices.
  • Perform the vital role of finding, developing, and unleashing the talent Agile Teams and ARTs need to build the high functioning team

What you'll need to have

As an Engineering Manager, you are accountable for technical product management, engineering health & overall engineering talent management for the assigned scope. You will cultivate a growing team of 7-12 direct reports, managing the day-to-day and month-to-month progress of each team member's professional journey while coordinating with other leaders to maintain a high-performing team.

You will help foster diverse thinking and problem solving to deliver high-quality releases on a defined cadence. You will be working with product teams, Architecture, and business partners to strategically plan and deliver the technical product features while keeping product quality and security as the priority.

  • Track record of solving complex engineering problems at scale with outstanding business and technology results.
  • Strong team management and organization skills; ability to lead, motivate, and direct a global workgroup.
  • Experience in planning (inc. estimation / forecasting), execution and success of technical Epics, or technical aspects of larger Epics to achieve business outcomes
  • Experience in implementing mechanisms & processes for technical oversight whilst executing through skilled engineers, inc. spend, governance & decision making within the Product Team(s) or technical domain(s).
  • Ensures best engineering practices are followed/adopted for achieving operational excellence for business solutions (including DevSecOps practices)

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of Software Engineering experience with 5+ years of direct People Management experience.
  • Experience driving software engineering best practices across Security, Compliance, DevSecOps, Quality Engineering, and Application Architecture and Building Tools.
  • Experience delivering Automation solutions using Blue Prism or Power Automate; and AI / Machine Learning / Predictive Analytics; and building and designing production-grade high-performance, scalable and resilient solutions.
  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile environment
  • Good communication skills and teamwork focus mindset.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work up and down the organization, able to influence others to achieve results
