Job Title: Field Applications Specialist, Clinical Diagnostics

Reports to: Supervisor, Applications Support

Location: Brisbane

How will you make an impact?

You will support our customers, giving the best possible experience with clinical diagnostics products and support the business by providing pre- and post-sales technical support, generating demand, accelerating sales and building market share.

You will:

  • Provide technical support for clinical diagnostics product lines and services by answering customer technical inquiries received via face to face visit, telephone, email or web chat.
  • Products to be supported include a range of automated biochemistry analysers and associated Clinical, Veterinary and Toxicology assays; Point of Care testing devices; Microbiology instrumentation; Quality Control material and affiliated software.
  • Initial installation and training of new systems at customer site.
  • Be responsible for the resolution of customer issues and complaints.
  • Support the Thermo Fisher Scientific business by partnering with the commercial team to drive customer success and business growth.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to develop technical selling strategies.
  • Participate in frequent training on products and continuing education on new applications and technologies.
  • Delivers comprehensive technical training for customers and colleagues.
  • Accurately record pertinent information from customer contacts in Customer Relationship Management system.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as opportunities arise.

How will you get here?

  • BSc or MSc in a scientific field preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of industry or related work in a clinical laboratory
  • 1+ year of working with Thermo Fisher's clinical diagnostics instruments preferred.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role and/or providing technical presentations to a variety of audiences is strongly preferred.
  • Extensive hands-on / lab experience with similar products/techniques

Knowledge, Skills, Attributes

  • Experience in providing outstanding customer service
  • Strong understanding of business drivers, market, customers' expectations and opportunities for product applications
  • Able to analyze data, identify cause-effect relationships, and generate effective solutions.
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills both orally and in writing.
  • A customer-facing personality, including the ability to build positive relationships and engage in technical discussions with customers.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Proficient in English (oral and written)
  • Valid driving permit required.
  • Adhere to OHS policies and procedures and ensure a safe and balanced workplace environment.
