Tewksbury, MA / Chemical Analysis Division

The Chemical Analysis business provides a broad mix of analytical instruments and services to a diverse range of end user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Life Sciences, Medical, Energy, and Minerals and Mining. Its instruments are deployed globally in the field and on the line, in dynamic environments where customers put a premium on quality, reliability and ease of use. The Chemical Analysis business operates within a global footprint with more than 2,000 colleagues, delivering product solutions to customers that allow for confident, on-the-spot decision making.

How will you make an impact?

The expansiveness of your role will allow you to play a pivotal part in working on ground-breaking technology for devices that make the world a healthier, cleaner, and safer place. In this role you will collaborate with other teams such as software, electrical, and mechanical engineers as well as scientists to build something from inception to first customer shipment. Development is done in multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites in Europe, India and the US.

What will you do?

  • Perform all phases of software development including design, implementation, testing, integration, maintenance and software release for our hand-held products.
  • Development and support of middleware, communications and other layers of the software stack using object-oriented programming (OOP) techniques in C/C++ and Qt/QML on a Linux environment.
  • Integration of algorithms & mathematical functions for the identification and quantification of materials
  • Participate in code, design, and test plan reviews.
  • Work with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies in a Test Driven Development environment.
  • Estimate and build project timelines with management.

How will you get here?

Education

BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics or equivalent work experience

Desired Experience

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Science background with experience with matrix math/linear algebra
  • Experience with spectroscopies such as Raman and/or XRF
  • SQL, schema and db experience
  • Experience with Embedded Linux and Qt
  • XML, JSON, REST
  • Tools: Jira, Git/GitHub, Confluence
