Location/Division Specific Information
We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen, currently with about 500 employees, whose "high-end" measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets.

Senior Scientist (m/f/d) Mass Spectrometer Application

Discover Impactful Work:

As Senior Scientist (m/f/d) you will develop new life science mass spectrometry products within our multi-disciplined multi-national R&D team.

A day in the Life:

  • You will characterize novel prototype mass spectrometers with focus on typical customer applications including edge cases. In cooperation with product management, you will complete feasibility experiments and conduct the data evaluation. The interpretation of the results and their relevance for customer applications is key for your work.
  • Within the team you will write the application-based system requirements. Afterwards, you will plan, setup, execute, and document the verification of novel mass spectrometers by liquid chromatographic sample injection. The development team will be guided by you regarding customer needs and application scenarios.
  • With progress in the product development cycle, you will support the evaluation and validation of new products, including workflows and applications.
  • For a smooth transition into series production, your input is taken to develop factory acceptance procedures and you will collaborate with the support and operation groups.
  • Around product launch, you will provide experienced analytical and technical support and collaborate with key opinion leaders.

Keys to Success
Education


  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Physics. PhD would be preferred.

Experience

  • A couple of years hands-on experience in high-resolution accurate mass LC-MS system, preferable on Orbitrap Exploris instrumentation.
  • Practical experience in sample preparation, nano-flow LC and High-Resolution Accurate Mass MS method optimizations, and comprehensive data analysis. Additional practical skills on intact proteins and mAb are a plus.
  • Understanding of market trends of mass spectrometry applications.
  • Experience with requirements management is an advantage.
