Location/Division Specific Information

We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen, currently with about 500 employees, whose "high-end" measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets.

A Day in the Life:
  • Perform testing on various hardware and software platforms to evaluate design and performance in support of Thermo Fisher Scientific`s new product development
  • In conjunction with development and product management groups, generate sound requirements for new product development
  • Work with development and validation groups to create, execute and document verification and validation activities
  • Filing, tracking, and updating of test cases and bug reports in data bases
  • Characterization of newly developed instrument hardware and software
  • Knowledge transfer to product management and product support groups
  • Other duties as assigned

Keys to Success:

Education
  • University degree in physics, engineering, chemistry or related science, or equivalent education and work experience
Experience
  • Ability and experience working independently on scientific projects
  • Experience on one or more separation techniques: HPLC, nLC, uLC, GC, CE with MS detection;
  • Good knowledge of both LC and MS instrumentation. Comfortable discussing the components of a mass spectrometer, aspects of liquid chromatography, mass spectrometer ionization sources and their impact on design or application performance
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of Proteomics, Lipidomics, Pharma/Biopharma, Clinical or Food & Environmental analytical industries
  • Experience with product verification and validation testing to confirm specifications and product performance
  • High degree of self-motivated with the ability to learn instrumental techniques
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Ability to work in a highly motivated multi-national multi-disciplinary team in supporting the development of high-performance mass spectrometric instrumentation and related technologies
  • Programming skills in a major programming language or scripting language would be preferred
  • Knowledge of software testing techniques would be preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluent in English, willing to learn German
  • Ability to travel 10-15% globally
