Job Description

The Team
The TEM Solutions R&D organization incorporates the High Precision Mechanism team, which is dedicated to delivering innovative technologies in various areas such as Sample Manipulation (notably innovative TEM stages), Sample Transfer (including loading and transportation at room and cryogenic temperatures), Sample & System Conditioning (including active vibration isolation systems and cryogenic cooling), and Sample Stimulation (such as electrical and heating methods).

We are working closely with Business Units, the Advanced Technology group, and multiple collaborative partners, this team strives to transform the most promising technological concepts into tangible products for manipulating, transferring, conditioning, and stimulating samples in and around microscopes! We are geographically distributed, with members located in Brno, Czech Republic, and Eindhoven, Netherlands.

The Position
As a Mechanical designer, your role entails being part of a team with varied strengths responsible for developing various mechatronic modules for our sophisticated microscope. Collaborating closely with mechanical, electronics, software, and mechatronics engineers, as well as architects, project managers, suppliers, and individuals from departments beyond R&D such as operations and service, your contribution is important in bringing these modules to fruition.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new products while adhering to internal/external standards and processes, considering cost, specifications, and timelines.
  • Design products with serviceability, manufacturability, and reliability in mind.
  • Establish theoretical foundations for designs, including building thermal and dynamic models, conducting FEM analysis.
  • Provide support, guidance, and motivation to internal and external mechanical designers (suppliers).
  • Define and specify new designs, and drive them towards successful outcomes.
  • Supply to FMEA and Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Specific responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to factory and field service engineers during initial builds, installations, and upgrades of newly introduced systems and modules, ensuring their accurate functioning. This may involve traveling to different customer locations worldwide to support installations and upgrades.

Requirements

  • Possess a qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with High Precision Mechanics, Cryogenic designs, and Mechatronic design an advantage.
  • Proficient in using UG-NX or other 3D CAD software.
  • Fluent in English and preferably strong in the local language.
