About the Role

The Revenue division of the Comptroller Department is seeking a Staff Accountant to provide recording and reconciling support for daily and monthly PATH and Parking revenues.

The Comptroller's Department is a reporting Department to the Chief Financial Officer, we are a team of dedicated professionals who ensure the accuracy of the Port Authority's finances. As part of the Comptroller's Department team, you will gain insight and experience surrounding the agency's financial structure and internal control processes as well as knowledge of the operations of our various lines of business, giving you extensive opportunities for a long-term career at the Port Authority.

Reporting directly to the Accounting Supervisor, the Staff Accountant's responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Preparing and posting monthly accruals
  • Reconcile daily PATH ticket vending machine activity and compare to actual receipts
  • Reconciling bank wires for Aviation credit card sales on a weekly basis
  • Responding to inquiries from other PA departments and outside agencies as well as assisting with internal and external audits
  • Issuing invoices for cross honoring with NJ Transit
  • Monitoring and updating the Parking Revenue Data System to ensure a seamless interface with SAP
  • Reconciling and accounting for airport parking revenues
  • Reconciling PATH Smartlink and Credit Card payments
  • Recording and reconciling aviation parking credit card accounts
  • Perform monthly parking variance analysis
  • Work with a collection agency to record monthly parking collections
  • Participate in various activities for PCPS testing and TAPP full implementation

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Corporate Finance from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 1 years of relevant work experience.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience can be accepted.

Applicants must meet all performance and attendance standards and have completed all probationary periods.

Desired Qualifications

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Knowledge of Port Authority accounting and financial structure
  • Knowledge of Port Authority businesses and operations
  • Knowledge of GAAP as it relates to the Port Authority
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently and prioritize work
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills in reconciling financial information
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate complex information clearly and accurately
  • Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external staff at all levels
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel
