About the Role

Reporting to the Program Manager, Commercial Data Insights & Financial Analytics (PM, CDI&FA), the selected candidate will be responsible for serving as a centralized resource for the Aviation Properties and Commercial Development Unit (the Unit) to support initiatives that foster best-in class standards for data collection, management, and analysis that influence revenue projections, decision-making, and day-to-day processes across the Port Authority's five-airport system (Newark Liberty International, JFK International, LaGuardia, New York Stewart International, and Teterboro Airports). The position will coordinate across the Unit's lines of business-including Commercial Properties, Concessions, Commercial Development, and Ground Transportation-to improve business intelligence tools and financial models, ensuring data accuracy and consistency in standards and assumptions.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the PM, CDI&FA in developing robust financial models for the projection of commercial revenues.
  • Monitors operational and financial trends at the department and industry level to provide input into the Unit's short-term and long-term financial forecasts and assesses any impact on the Port Authority's operating and capital costs.
  • Reviews lease agreements to validate the financial analysis and underlying assumptions and short- and long-term impact on the Port Authority. Engages other Unit staff as needed for subject matter expertise guidance and input.
  • Develops consolidated digital databases by transferring current data on operations, metrics, and revenues into structured relational databases with connected web-based portals for internal and external stakeholders to input, review, and revise key data.
  • Manages the development and upkeep of Commercial spatial data utilizing ArcGIS Pro and other ESRI products in collaboration with the technology department, GIS Enterprise, and asset management unit to digitize all airport property lease holds.
  • Integrates customer/consumer demographics, survey data, and economic trends with commercial and transportation revenues data to increase understanding of existing transactions and aid in forecasting and revenue projections for the Unit.
  • Ensures data quality assurance by designing automated validation procedures using business intelligence tools such as SQL, Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
  • Responds to ad-hoc requests for commercial statistics and assembles customized data analysis reports & visualizations as necessary.
  • Develops road maps for innovative technology improvements that outline long-term product strategy, create buy-in for product vision among leadership, and identify funding mechanisms when necessary.
  • Implements automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency of the Unit and improve Operational Excellence.
  • Builds strong stakeholder relationships to ensure commercial data is submitted timely and accurately.
  • Serves as a project manager for the implementation of select training programs across the Unit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in data science, data analytics, financial analysis, or a related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience creating and interpreting Microsoft Excel reports which includes using pivot tables and formulas.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, deduce trends, and perform strategic assessments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, GIS, and business intelligence tools.
  • Experience developing and fostering internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated oral and written skills to support recommended solutions to senior management and others.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to concurrently manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Transportation Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or related field.
  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and utilize analytical tools using SQL, Python, R and/or other querying and script writing languages to facilitate data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop data visualization reports using Power BI, Tableau, and/or other business intelligence tools.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Working knowledge of System Application Products (SAP) Real Estate Module.
  • Demonstrated experience in decision making, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with senior level management of various disciplines both inside and outside the Port Authority.
  • Demonstrated aviation industry experience or knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience working collectively with PA staff in the implementation of Port Authority goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of Port Authority authorization policies and procedures relating to real estate.
