About the Role

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Group Supervisor, the Maintenance Services Supervisors works within the Maintenance Unit at Newark Liberty International Airport. This role serves as facility maintenance duty supervisor, coordinating support for general facility maintenance support and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise Port Authority maintenance employees and facility contracted personnel.
  • Serve as Contract administrator overseeing janitorial service, refuse removal and recycling, off-airport policing, aeronautical sweeping, baggage system and passenger loading bridge contracts.
  • Required to evaluate the performance of contractors and recommend changes based upon performance and airport activity.
  • Direct the maintenance response and coordination during airport emergencies, including making staff notifications.
  • Serve as facility Duty Maintenance Supervisor during regular, off tours, and inclement weather conditions.

Additional Information

  • This is a permanent Maintenance Services Supervisor position at Newark International Airport.
  • Selected candidate will be required to work an 8-hour shift with fixed RDO's that could include weekends and holidays.
  • Selected candidate must be able to respond to declared emergencies, including snow conditions, and work on an overtime basis as a regular function of the job. Including off tours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Selected candidates will be required to apply and be able to maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Card and airfield DR2 driving privileges within three (3) months of selection.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have three (3) years of full-time, paid maintenance work experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution required.
  • All applicants that meet the above qualifications and have been selected for an interview, must also be qualified on a Port Authority Entry-Level Assessment (ESA) test prior. This test assesses supervisory skills and will be administered virtually.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to schedule and supervise the work of subordinate staff.
  • Experience with managing contracts and/or contracted staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and coordinate work with other supervisors and craft groups.
  • Knowledge of airport facility's snow removal operation.
  • Knowledge of Maximo and Microsoft Office 365 functions.
