About the Internship
This dynamic internship will provide students with meaningful, hands-on experience in aviation security, infrastructure protection, and public safety operations. Interns will support critical functions including Safety Act requests, security planning, threat assessments, policy development, and technology integration.
Working alongside experienced professionals, interns will gain valuable insight into the processes and systems that protect major transportations facilities. The internship is designed to expose students to real-world applications of aviation security, regulatory compliance, stakeholder coordination, and federal partnership while contributing to the mission of maintaining a safe and secure airport environment.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with SAFETY Act and ensure all Requests for Information during the Technical Contour submission process are researched and provided to DHS to maintain the award.
- Assist with the SAFETY Act review process to ensure the programs and technologies implemented at LGA are validated by appropriate subject matter experts.
- Conduct research of TSA security regulations and industry best practices.
- Assist with planning/conducting the Annual AVSEC (Aviation Security) tabletop exercises.
- Assist the Airport Security Credentialing Office with improving processing times, community outreach, including assisting in the monthly security awareness campaign, and Authorized Signatory meetings.
- Assist in the review of various standard operating procedures.
- Perform additional tasks as requested to include white papers, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
- Compile minutes for various meetings such as the monthly Authorized Signatory meetings and other security meetings
- Assist with contract administration by means of reviewing invoices and tracking expenses
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrollment at a college/university through the duration of the internship
- A minimum of one year of college education
- Major in Aviation Management, Aviation Security, Aviation Safey, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Business, Management, Information Systems, or a related discipline
Desired:
- Ability to meet deadlines, work independently or within a team, and prioritize work
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
- Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
- Interest in public service and/or transportation
Internship Details:
- The start date is expected to be July 2025
- This internship will require 36.25 per week
- The end date will be determined after the internship starts
- The format is expected to be fully in-person at LaGuardia Airport

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $27.89 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
