About the Role
Reporting to the Director of the Office of Continuous Improvement (OCI), the Business Transformation Project Manager will support process improvement and transformation initiatives across the agency. This individual will lead and coach teams on projects that enhance business operations, strengthen customer experience, and explore opportunities to apply emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). The Business Transformation Project Manager will act as a liaison to a portfolio of departments across the organization to help deliver measurable improvements aligned with the Port Authority's priorities and standards.
About the Office of Continuous Improvement
OCI is responsible for implementing the agency's continuous improvement framework and methodology to transform business processes, enhance customer experience, and foster innovation. Our toolkit includes Lean, Six Sigma, design thinking, and automation technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI). In addition, OCI oversees a robust training and certification program to embed continuous improvement into the organizational culture and multiply its impact across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
The Business Transformation Project Manager will:
- Collaborate with department leaders to develop a pipeline of projects aligned to strategic objectives.
- Support project teams in applying continuous improvement and transformation methodologies to deliver measurable results
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new tools and approaches, including AI-enabled solutions.
- Participate in training programs and help onboard staff into the agency's continuous improvement framework.
- Provide research, data analysis, and project coordination support to cross-functional initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Engineering, Technology, Business, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in operations, business management, technology strategy, or project management.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience applying continuous improvement methodologies; certification (Lean, Six Sigma) or equivalent required
- Proven success continuous improvement initiatives with significant measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated skills in problem solving, process analysis, and change management.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Experience supporting or contributing to enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Experience in automation or AI-related projects is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to support multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
