The VP, Solution and Platform Architecture is charged with leading a team of architecture and engineering functions that creates and maintains strategic knowledge, including technology standards, development and deployment patterns across all Commercial and Personal Lines technology domains, infrastructure, security, data, and applications. These key deliverables allow the technology organization to remain aligned to enterprise strategy and enable the consistent deployment of critical and strategic technologies. This leader must bring a deep technical background and experience in enterprise technology and data-driven decision making. The successful candidate must have the ability influence across the technology organization, actively participate in strategic planning and decision making and the execution of complex technology initiatives and projects. He or she must have an ability to effectively communicate and influence a point of view and perspective with senior leaders. They will provide leadership to business and systems architecture team members through partnership and mentoring.

Lead a team of solution architects charged with defining and maintaining standards and design and implementation patterns that drive enterprise technology, aligned with technology strategy

  • Evolve technology strategy and delivery into a platform-based approach to maximize reuse across the organization
  • Drive engineering frameworks and delivery of cross-business assets that deliver value to the enterprise
  • Partner with senior leadership to align to strategic imperatives and technology strategy
  • Partner with technology strategy to identify, assess, and act on emerging technology trends
  • Responsible for leading due diligence associated with major initiatives, upgrades, and re-platforming aligned to our Cloud Transformation

Skills and Expertise:

  • Proven experience in engineering and software architecture design
  • Expert level knowledge of technology at least one architecture domain
  • Deep technical knowledge across various integration points
  • Strong knowledge of various operating systems, databases and infrastructure technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
  • Experienced with DevSecOps practices.
  • Understanding and experience with AI, ML and integrating data science models real-time into operation systems as well as Cloud and Blockchain technologies
  • Experienced with micro services or API based integrations
  • 15+ years of experience in technology-focused organization, including 10+ years in architecture preferred
  • 10+ years of leading cross-disciplinary product and engineering teams
  • Practical experience in Insurance domain with a strong prior delivery experience is preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field; Master of Science in Computer Science or related preferred

This role is based in one of the following office locations: Hartford, CT, Chicago, IL or Charlotte, NC office on a hybrid basis (Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday in the office).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$222,000 - $333,000
