The SIU Major Case Consultant leads high-exposure, high-profile, and sensitive investigations involving complex organized fraud with regional and national implications. This role collaborates with the SIU Field Operations, Forensic Data Analytics, Corporate Legal, and other business units to support the Workers' Compensation, Auto, Property, General Liability, Underwriting, and Employee Benefits (not required) operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Apply appropriate investigative techniques & strategies pertaining to large scale and organized fraud schemes, ensuring cases are conducted following laws pertaining to insurance claims, mandated reporting and good-faith investigative practices.
• Proactively develop and lead investigations involving multifaceted allegations and/or significant financial exposure across multiple claims and lines of business.
• Utilize critical thinking techniques and advanced analytical skills to synthesize and summarize intricate case finings.
• Clearly communicate and present investigative outcomes and case briefs to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of national legal and regulatory environments relevant to insurance fraud.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders with appropriate anti-fraud deterrence and affirmative litigation strategies.
• Deliver testimony and present case results in legal or regulatory proceedings.
• Travel nationally to support investigations, foster cross-functional relationships, and engage with government agencies and industry professionals.
• Identify and address workflow inefficiencies while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Monitor and forecast emerging fraud trends and vulnerabilities, sharing insights with internal stakeholders.
• Serves as the subject matter expert on medical and non-medical fraud to business and industry partners.
• Deliver training on fraud issues and investigative techniques.
• Lead or contribute to special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies
• In-depth knowledge of Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, Workers Compensation, and Employee Benefits claims and operations.
• High proficiency in database tools, digital research, and investigative technologies.
• Strong analytical capabilities across functional, technical, and financial domains.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage and execute high-impact investigations.
• Expertise in interviewing techniques.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence, guide, and build consensus.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated agility in responding to change and organizational demands.
Typical Education / Experience
• Minimum of bachelor's degree required.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities & aptitude.
• Consistent high level of performance and achievement over career span.
• Satisfactory completion of the candidate testing/certification process.
Work Arrangements:
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$101,840 - $152,760
