The Hartford is seeking a highly motivated and experienced hands-on senior software engineer to lead the efforts to transform and migrate our on-premise platforms to AWS with a proven track record of engineering and operationalizing next generation solutions suite using Cloud and Big Data Technologies. The right candidate should be passionate for engineering- anything from simple solutions to complex problems to improve the developer experience for consuming cloud services. This position will be integral in activities related to the design, implementation, orchestration, automation, and maintenance of our cloud adoption journey.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Design and develop solutions that are scalable, highly available, fault tolerant and easily maintainable.
- Develop data pipelines, extracting and transforming data, conducting analyses, developing insights, and delivering actionable recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Design and develop high quality, scalable data assets that support contemporary BI tools and advanced analytics.
- Prototype high impact innovations, catering to changing business needs, by leveraging Cloud and Big Data technologies.
- Deliver business solutions using state of the art technical frameworks, web and database technologies.
- Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact project schedule and/or integrity of the application environment.
- Work closely with stakeholders to design and implement solutions that align with the business needs and are consistent with the architectural vision.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of 4+ years of work experience in IT systems analysis and application program development.
- 4+ years ETL/ELT, Data Integration, Big Data experience building data pipelines and process to move data through the data processing pipelines for variety of data sets.
- Hands on development with Java/J2EE applications, Spring, Spring Boot, ORM, JPA, Spring Batch to design, develop, implement and support complex business solutions.
- Experience designing and integrating quality data assets for optimal use in BI tools like Tableau, expertise in building scalable distributed data processing solutions with Hadoop, HBase, Scoop, Hive and developing data pipelines using Streams, Sqoop and map reduce. Experience migration of legacy ETL solutions to Hadoop.
- Understanding of AWS core services such as S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Glue, IAM, KMS, SNS, SQS
- Experience with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, best practices and tools such as Git, Jenkins, Nexus, Rally, Jira, etc
- Experienced in Agile Scrum and Kanban Methodologies
- Requires excellent business communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with Business and IT management and staff.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$96,000 - $144,000
