Senior Product Analyst, Product Development, Personal Insurance
The Hartford's Personal Insurance business is approximately $3.5B and provides Automobile, Homeowners and Umbrella coverages to individuals across the United States. The business includes The AARP® Automobile and Homeowners Insurance Program and is written through the Direct Channel and through Independent Agents.
The Senior Product Analyst is a key member of the Homeowners Countrywide Product Team within Personal Insurance. This position is responsible for leveraging a highly analytical background in the context of exposure / catastrophe management for the Homeowners line of business.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live in close proximity to one of our locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a subject matter expert on various catastrophe models including inputs/outputs and primary/secondary characteristics
- Partners with IRM to evaluate the catastrophe Risk Models
- Provides assistance to business partners in visualizing varying geographic level catastrophe risk
- Produces current event analysis for catastrophic events for leadership
- Partners with State Product Managers to manage localized cat risk in their states
- Evaluates competitor pricing and underwriting cat strategies
- Proactively researches the market for the latest available risk assessment metrics
- Participates in proof of concept analyses with external vendors
- Incorporates a routine for monitoring cat management initiatives' performance
- Completes periodic reviews and suggests actions as part of outlier risk management
- Collaborates with the Data Science to incorporate updated cat model pricing into class plan
- Assists in the development of product capabilities that enable our exposure management strategies
- Provides assistance with filing support for catastrophe perils
CRITICAL SKILLS:
- Demonstrates critical thinking on complex business problems
- Strong technical skills with ability to work with large datasets
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs, SQL, geospatial, statistical package or similar programs used to collect and analyze data
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business partners
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to execute on timelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong mathematics / statistics background required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in analytics
- ArcGIS experience highly preferred
- Understanding of catastrophe risk modeling and metrics is preferred
- Advanced degree and/or insurance designations(s) preferred

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$76,000 - $114,000
