The Hartford is seeking for a detail-oriented Performance Engineer to ensure the high performance and scalability of our applications. The Performance Engineer will work closely with the development team to design and execute performance tests, analyze test results, and provide recommendations to improve performance. The ideal candidate should be experienced in performance testing methodologies, have a deep understanding of performance metrics, and the ability to identify and recommend solutions to performance issues.

Responsibilities
- Conduct performance testing and benchmarking of software applications.
- Analyze and troubleshoot performance issues and identify bottlenecks.
- Work closely with software developers and architects to optimize system performance.
- Monitor system performance and ensure consistent application responsiveness.
- Develop performance testing strategy, test planning, scripting, execution, monitoring, and results analysis.
- Generate comprehensive performance analysis reports and present findings.
- Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies.
- Stay updated with the latest performance testing tools and methodologies
- Work with stakeholders to understand and establish performance requirements, refine performance benchmarks, KPIs, and SLAs.
- Design and implement performance tests to evaluate system speed, reliability, and scalability.
- Implement performance monitoring tools to detect and troubleshoot system performance issues.
- Provide advice and guidance on system performance to project teams and stakeholders.
- Document performance-related processes, issues, and solutions for future reference.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies related to system performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in performance engineering or related roles.
- In-depth knowledge and hands on expertise in performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Splunk
- Strong system design principles and proficiency in programming/scripting with Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript
- Proven track record of analyzing and resolving performance issues in complex systems.
- Self-driven and adaptable, able to work independently and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$115,760 - $173,640
