The Front Office Application Developer will work closely with technology and investment professionals to ensure that their dynamic information and automation needs are met. This is an opportunity for an individual with a passion for understanding business problems and developing creative solutions on business-critical systems. The Developer will work on one or more assignments at a time under general guidance of a Senior Developer. The successful candidate must be able to work with several different tools and technologies. Much of the systems development will require an understanding of object-oriented design. This position requires an individual that has strong software development and communications skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain a solid working knowledge of the investment industry and business processes.
  • Participate on assignments and projects, clarifying business requirements, performing application development and modification activities, as well as related maintenance and support.
  • Participate in planning sessions with clients, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements. Engage in client interaction.
  • Develop applications or perform application maintenance per written technical specifications with general supervision from Senior Developers.
  • Assist with the translation of business and technical requirements into application modules.
  • Utilize programming languages and software technology, fully understanding and applying disciplined software development processes.
  • Develop or modify software application modules using disciplined software development processes.
  • Assist with the development or modification of software application modules, following instructions, and using disciplined software development processes.
  • Apply quality assurance principles and processes, ensure application meets needs of client and business, and test and implement application modules that have been developed or modified.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance of applications or tools.
  • Handle support issues within area of expertise.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years' experience developing systems with .NET, C#, or C++ and solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience with software development, testing, and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Must be able to communicate with business users in non-technical terms and communicate the impacts of system changes to business partners.
  • Analytical approach with a strong ability to uncover and resolve problems and deliver innovative approaches and solutions.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities effectively in a dynamic organization while providing reliable estimates for project tasks and delivering upon committed dates.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with peers and work as part of a high performing and aggressive team.
  • Effective listener, who can give timely and constructive feedback. Is willing to state opinions assertively and deals constructively with conflict situations.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office from Hartford, CT. 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$83,440 - $137,640

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
