This role provides an exciting opportunity to support The Hartford's largest business segment and market leader. This role is a key member of the Employee Benefits Financial Planning and Analysis Team which oversees a $6 billion book of business. This role is responsible for expense and premium oversight, internal management reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and analytical insight.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop Specialty Markets premium and commission forecast (approximately $300M book of business) through collaboration with Employee Benefits Underwriting, Actuarial, Sales, and Group Reinsurance Plus organizations.
- Responsible for Specialty Markets premium close ensuring earned premium is properly recorded for the month. Review premium results with Specialty Markets business partners to understand trends and variances.
- Assist in Employer Group premium components of growth (CoG) analysis by creating General Agent and Broker in-force roll forwards (Components of Growth) to be shared with Employee Benefits business partners.
- Prepare and consolidate business performance review decks for review with senior leaders, including Segment reporting, Line of Business reporting, and coordination of Greenbook and Bluebook reports.
- Prepare Operating Expense analytics and book appropriate expense accruals
- Provide analytical support and financial guidance to our business partners to enhance the decision-making process and to achieve their operating plan/targets.
- Drive continuous improvement in management reporting, metrics and forecasting with a mindset for developing more predictive and prescriptive analytics and reporting while automating or eliminating low value activities (including utilization of root cause problem solving).
- Engage in special projects as directed by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required
- 3+ years of experience or 1+ years of experience as part of the Finance Leadership Development Program
- Self-starter, self-motivated and performance driven; ability to lead through influencing.
- Ability to quickly learn and assimilate new applications
- Results oriented with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to tailor delivery based on audience; ability to communicate and influence at various levels.
- Ability to leverage data to translate operational performance into financial implications and influence future strategies.
- Possess strong problem solving skills with a proven ability to develop recommendations based on solid analytics that address the root cause and explain impacts to business performance.
- Possess strong to advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills; TM1 experience a plus; MS Co-Pilot, Python, or PowerBI experience a plus
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$81,600 - $122,400
