Our Risk Engineering Account Executive supporting National Accounts has responsibility for sales, survey and service support. Your primary responsibilities will include prospective and in-force survey work supporting underwriting decision-making, presenting on risk engineering capabilities for prospective customers and brokers, and the design and delivery of an impactful service plan intended to make our customers' workplace safer and more efficient. Your expertise, attention to detail and quality, will be crucial in maintaining The Hartford's reputation for excellence and reliability in risk mitigation.

WORK ARRANGEMENTS: This role will have a Remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Comprehensive Risk Assessments: Conduct or direct other field staff to deliver high-quality and technical surveys for both prospective and in-force customers. Our technical assessment and support allows our underwriting partners to better understand and price risk.
  • Professional Representation: Deliver compelling internal and external presentations that effectively communicate the value of Risk Services, highlight The Hartford's differentiators, and reinforce our position as a market leader in risk management.
  • Account Management for Complex Risks: Design and deliver comprehensive service plans focused on loss drivers, operational exposures and impactful loss reduction strategies. For our largest and most complex customers, this role will focus on quality, consistency, and timeliness of services delivered by our field staff and technical specialists.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify and pursue opportunities to expand Risk Services offerings that contribute to the acquisition and retention of profitable business, aligning with The Hartford's strategic goals.
  • Consultative Services: Provide advanced-level consultation though data insights, observations and discussions with our customers and technical risk engineering staff. Designing and managing projects with metrics for before/after implementation to showcase success is expected.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Leverage the expertise of technical managers, subject matter experts, and The Hartford's innovative tools and resources to deliver superior service and risk management solutions.
  • Strategic Business Partnerships: Actively engage with underwriting, claims, and sales teams to foster strong internal partnerships that support business development, client retention, and profitable growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) strongly preferred, with a concentration in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related scientific or technical disciplines. Advanced coursework or continuing education in risk management is highly desirable.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in a safety, risk control, or loss prevention role within the insurance or manufacturing industries. Demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive risk assessments and delivering consultative safety services across multiple lines of insurance coverage.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized professional safety or risk management designation(s) such as: CSP, CIH, CPCU, or ARM expected.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to independently manage survey and service assignments across casualty lines of business, including general liability, workers' compensation, and auto. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret loss data, identify trends, and develop targeted service strategies.
  • Consultative and Analytical Skills: Advanced consultative capabilities with a strong focus on client engagement and risk mitigation. Skilled in developing operational loss analysis reports, identifying key exposures, and crafting service initiatives that align with client needs and business objectives.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed technical reports, service plans, and business correspondence. Confident public speaker with experience delivering presentations to internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Interpersonal and Organizational Abilities: Self-motivated and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Strong team player with a collaborative mindset and the ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
  • Adaptability and Innovation: Demonstrated ability to embrace change, adapt to evolving business needs, and leverage innovative tools and methodologies to enhance service delivery and customer outcomes.
  • Technology Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other standard business applications. Experience with risk assessment software and data visualization tools is a plus.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$130,400 - $195,600
