We are seeking a REMOTE Paralegal to provide support for 8 Attorneys (Workers' Compensation and Tort) in our Georgia Staff Legal office. The ideal candidate will enjoy a high-volume, paperless environment that is both dynamic and rewarding. Our collaborative, team-oriented legal support team is passionate about insurance defense. The Paralegal for this position shall support critical activities which may include drafting pleadings, motions, affidavits, correspondence, reports, briefs, memorandums, summaries, discovery, and additional supporting documentation as needed. • Utilizes appropriate software to timely prepare correspondence, reports, briefs, motions, pleadings, deposition summaries and other documents
• Creates/edits court documents consistent with Georgia and Tennessee court requirements
• Support Attorneys on cases and serve as liaison with clients, claims, local courts, and counsel
• Maintain a minimal billing requirement of 1100 hours per year
• Submit record requests for medical records chronologies and associated research
• Draft pleadings, motions, responses to discovery requests, and targeted discovery activities
• Support our staff with typing and document filing as needed
• Follow-up with clients to obtain information needed to respond to discovery and signatures on verifications for discovery
• Communication with claim partners to obtain information needed to respond to discovery
• Collaborate with our attorneys, clients, and opposing counsel via phone and email
• Draft background facts and applicable law in support of discovery motions and compiling and organizing exhibits and relevant documents to support motions
• Produce large volumes of documents to opposing counsel and experts via various links, CDs, and zip drives
• Compile and organize exhibits and relevant documents for trial
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Paralegal within a paperless insurance defense law office or corporate department
• Minimum of 1 year of trial preparation experience is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated success organizing large volumes of documents and information during discovery, motion preparation, and trial preparation
• Successful candidates will have experience in a high-volume litigation environment with experience in document production, discovery preparation, Outlook calendar maintenance, and data maintenance for clients
• Strong working knowledge of Georgia or Tennessee court systems
• Strong multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency with case management software
• Strong familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)
• Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Excellent organizational skills, especially regarding prioritizing work activities for multiple attorneys
• Must be able to manipulate electronic documents such as TIF, PDF, and JPG formats
This role will have a Remote work arrangement with the expectation of coming into the Georgia Staff Legal Office as business needs arise. The ideal candidate will live within the greater Atlanta metro area but can reside in Tennessee.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$62,080 - $93,120
