This position joins a team that supports the enterprise through strategic alignment, process optimization, and cultural change and development in optimization and control. We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our team and contribute to enhancing our operational efficiency and productivity.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of integrating industrial engineering principles to drive innovation and improvement across various business lines. Your work will involve close collaboration with various stakeholders within the enterprise, including leaders in defining strategy, evaluating current processes and practices, and identifying areas for improvement. You will help maximize productivity and quality standards by designing and developing production layouts for the enterprise to increase efficiency and coordinating services to optimize workflow.

As an Industrial Engineer on our team, you will analyze complex narratives to detect, evaluate, and categorize insightful patterns. This position requires a solid data background in research, strong analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and keen business acumen. The ideal candidate will possess an investigative nature, be extremely detail-oriented, and have a passion for rigorous research and analysis.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office location (Hartford, CT; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; and Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities for the position will include the following:

  • Evaluate current practices: Analyze existing production processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Use data-driven methods and tools to assess the effectiveness of these practices and recommend changes to enhance productivity.
  • Improve the efficiency of each production process: Though analysis and redesign of workflows, strive to make production processes more efficient. Includes identifying bottlenecks, streamlining operations, and implementing best practices.
  • Design and develop production workflows: Optimize processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs. Involves planning the arrangement of resources, teams, technologies, and processes.
  • Analyze complex narratives: Examine detailed and intricate data sets to uncover patterns and insights. Use this to inform decisions about process improvements and operational strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with various stakeholders: Work with leaders and teams across the enterprise to define strategy, evaluate current processes, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Build, implement, and set up control solutions and systems: Monitor adherence to established processes and identify potential enhancements. Continuous assessment and feedback loops help maintain high standards and drive ongoing improvements.

Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
  • 3+ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering / Industrial Engineering position, with a solid background in industrial engineering principles and methods, including mathematical modeling, data analysis, and simulation techniques.
  • A degree in Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in operations, process improvement, or capacity planning.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Visio.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Results-oriented, demonstrating a sense of urgency and accountability for business issues.
  • Customer-focused, building effective relationships with internal partners, including actuarial, underwriting, operations, and information technology.
  • Innovative, seeking new and creative ways to approach analytical exercises and development projects.
  • The ideal candidate is a technically minded with Some knowledge of GEN AI, AWS suite of services, and overall technology.
  • Strong strategic thinking and exceptional analytical capability.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred
  • Insurance experience is preferred but not required

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$106,400 - $159,600
