We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Global Specialty Digital value stream. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Angular for the frontend and Java with Spring Boot for the backend. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams-including product managers, designers, and engineers-to deliver seamless user experiences and robust backend services. This position requires a strong understanding of full stack development, Agile methodologies, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and performance optimization.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Requirements:

  • Design and implement high-quality web applications using Angular and Spring Boot.
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and user experience.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and automated codebases.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across the full stack.
  • Implement security and data protection best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and enhance application performance.
  • Work within Agile frameworks to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in full stack development.
  • Proficiency in Angular and Spring Boot frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and practices.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Angular, Java, Spring Boot
    • JavaScript, HTML, CSS
    • RESTful APIs, Microservices architecture
    • SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
    • Git version control
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
    • Adaptability to changing project requirements
    • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
    • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$87,200 - $130,800
