We are seeking a highly skilled finance leader with strong project management, communication and accounting controls skills to join our Corporate Controllers organization as the Director, of Finance Program Management & Optimization. This role will report directly to the [VP, Accounting Services] and will be a key role within the Corporate Controllers organization. This role is accountable for leading various efforts within the Finance organization, including serving as the primary point of contact with our Corporate IT partners to update the Corporate Finance IT Invest Roadmap and to evaluate potential future Finance software options; serving as a key resource in Finance's Business Architecture and Data Strategy project, which will interface with consultants to document Corporate Finance's current state and our ideal future state to align with strategic priorities, as well as outlining how Corporate Finance will collect, manage, govern and use data to align with business goals, drive informed decision-making and extract value; and serving as the business resource in leading the Company's finance optimization team.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with an in-office presence in our Hartford, CT location (T - Th).
Responsibilities:
Serve as a key leader and support person for the SVP Chief Accounting Officer and VP of Accounting Services by managing key projects within Corporate Finance and Accounting Services. Identify, prioritize and coordinate delivery of strategic initiative prioritizations across Finance, including objectives related to data, advanced analytics, automation and artificial intelligence as part of Finance IT and finance optimization roadmaps. Lead annual Finance invest budget development and submission, which includes coordination with Business and IT stakeholders to ensure. Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and budgets. Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring project milestones are met. Oversee the finance optimization program and coordinate all team communications.
Qualifications:
10+ years of finance and accounting experience; insurance industry experience preferred; experienced project manager with experience leading Finance projects strongly preferred.
Strong leadership and team management skills. Experience driving high-performing project teams to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Partner with IT Finance leadership over projects involving Finance systems.
Demonstrated team player with outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational influencing skills; excellent stakeholder/relationship management skills and leadership behavior; employ continuous improvement and transformational mindset.
Strong understanding of finance and IT systems, processes and technologies. Ability to determine best approach for implementing new technologies and solutions, including cost-effectiveness of building in-house solutions versus leveraging technologies from external vendors.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$134,800 - $202,200
