The Enterprise Cloud Architect will be responsible for managing our company's cloud architecture and setting the strategic direction for the enterprise footprint in cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of cloud computing and platforms, as well as experience in large-scale migration and modernization of applications from on-premise deployments to the cloud. You should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to effectively share your knowledge. This individual will oversee the strategy and roadmap for the overall cloud technology architecture and will ensure that the appropriate considerations are made for Agility, Security, Operational Efficiency, Quality, and leverage of cloud-native capabilities. The Architect will also be responsible for ensuring that the cloud technology investments are aligned to the organization's technology and governance strategies, policies, and standards.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT; Stamford, CT; Danbury, CT; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee enterprise cloud strategy, including technology standards, cloud product usage, and development and deployment patterns across all enterprise technology domains (e.g., cloud, infrastructure, security, data, and applications) ensuring alignment with the business strategy.
  • Analyze emerging industry business and technology cloud trends, translating implications for new capabilities into functional and technology domain planning.
  • May have supervisory responsibility in instructing, assigning, directing, and checking the work of the resources within their section/department.
  • Educate and influence stakeholders to promote simplification, risk management, and innovation of the cloud technology portfolio.
  • Work with extended architecture, business, and IT support teams to develop functional and technical blueprints to deliver functional and automation change agenda aligned with strategic direction for HIG Lines of Business.
  • Ensure Reliability Engineering & Automation CoE automation strategy implements scalable, reusable, and integrated solutions.
  • Responsible for cloud architecture governance to ensure projects are compliant with IT strategy, architecture standards, and technology directions.
  • Assists management with investment prioritization and architecture metrics at the Enterprise level.
  • Work with the cloud vendors to evaluate and select services that can support business requirements.
  • Train and share cloud knowledge with IT technical teams providing them cloud architectural consulting expertise, direction and assistance.
  • Document and implement cloud standards for adopting cloud services for consistency

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Prior experience with large-scale cloud migration and cloud-native development.
  • Experience with delivery methodologies such as Agile and SCRUM.
  • Experience designing available Public Cloud services for enterprise consumption.
  • Negotiation skills and ability to influence others by educating and sharing information.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Migrating legacy solutions to cloud is a plus.
  • Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture.
  • Expert knowledge of computing architectures.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture discipline and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Cloud service offerings and capabilities.
  • Clear understanding of cloud and container deployment architectures including building cloud-ready applications and container orchestration systems.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with enterprise leaders to understand current and emerging business needs.
  • Leading, influencing, and driving change across the enterprise with experience transforming large organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree required (or experience equivalent)
  • 10+ years' experience managing and directing medium to large-scale, multi-project development teams, or equivalent combination of education and work experience, ideally within the insurance and financial services industry
  • Demonstrated complex planning, conceptual, consulting and communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills
  • Ability to interact with senior Hartford line of business area, IT management, and staff

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$180,000 - $270,000
