This opportunity is a part of The Hartford's Middle & Large Business (M&LB) team with focus on General Liability, Life Sciences, and Media, Arts, & Entertainment, providing actuarial guidance and support. This position will be be heavily involved in supporting the Media, Arts & Entertainment segment and will work in a highly collaborative environment with Underwriting, Product, Finance and IT departments. This role can be part of our Actuarial Leadership Development Program for a near/recent ACAS/ASA pursuing their FCAS/FSA designation.

Responsibilities:
- As a critical business partner, you will be involved in a broad array of areas both actuarial and non-actuarial in nature. Examples of areas of responsibility include:
- Lead analysis, implementation, and communication of core actuarial work for MAE including loss ratio planning and rate filings.
- Build analytics that proactively identify business issues and perform analyses that address these issues. Communicate results in a manner that is understandable and most importantly, allows management to make operational changes where necessary.
- Provide actuarial opinions on profitability, including rate and price guidance
- Provide support for and enhance the calculations/analyses underlying the rating / pricing methodology
- Drive and enhance the partnership between Actuarial and the business functions
Experience & Skills:
- 3+ years of actuarial experience with a proven record of success closely aligned with supporting a business.
- Near or recent ACAS/FCAS, near or recent ASA/FSA or individuals with actuarial experience not pursuing exams.
- Strong Excel skills required and knowledge of predictive modeling tools and methods a plus.
- Experience in pricing P&C commercial lines is preferred.
- Innovative and collaborative problem solver with experience working independently in a dynamic environment.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills - both oral and written, formal and informal; effective at communicating actuarial issues to non-actuarial partners.
- Proactive individual, who challenges existing processes, can influence others and drive a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines.
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$108,800 - $163,200
