The Southeast Area On Grounds Adult Residential Program is seeking dynamic human service professional and exceptional and experienced residential administrator to direct the day to day operation of 24/7 staffed adult group living environment within a 47 bed State operated program serving the Southeast Area.
As Residential Supervisor, this individual will maintain a therapeutic atmosphere, a strength based and person centered focus, and provide recovery oriented supports to individuals with chronic mental illness by demonstrating knowledge of DMH regulations regarding Adult Residential programs; program procedures; and coordination of all aspects of the program with assigned staff which includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that each person served needs are met; that Individual Action Plans are developed and followed by staff; that appropriate and timely documentation occurs; and that safe staffing is in place. The selected candidate will provide supervision of MHW's and LPN's assigned to the residence; will assign work and will evaluate the performance of assigned staff.

Under the supervision of the MAP Director, the Residential Supervisor will also provide medication administration supports to individual's served assuring that DPH and DMH policies for a MAP Certified Program are implemented and followed across all shifts. Assures that individuals served receive needed medical and psychiatric care, assures the implementation and documenting of medication administration consistent with MAP policies, assures that staff on all shifts files and reports all medication occurrences as required by MAP policy, and that staff seeks consultation from the MAP Director and the program's RN MAP Consultant as needed.
Please Note: The position is 40 hours per week on the day shift. The selected candidate will work 8:00AM-4:30PM. The days off are Sunday and Saturday.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive):
- Provides individual supervision to staff providing support to individuals living in an Adult Residential program including assigning and directing the activities of reporting staff, appraising their performance, and recommending to the Program Director should disciplinary and/or corrective action be required.
- Understands all DMH regulations and program procedures pertaining to Adult Residential services by mastery of the program and agency manuals and under the supervision of the Program Director or designee to ensure that quality care is provided and that services are provided in compliance with DMH polices, regulations, and procedures.
- Responsible for securing appropriate services for persons served by working with other agencies, such as DTA, Social Security, Mass Rehab, day programs, psychiatric and medical services to ensure person served receive optimum care and benefits they are entitled to. Work in collaboration with other team members, i.e. nursing, LPHA, Voc Rehab and Peer specialist.
- Participates with LPHA, all staff and Persons Served in IAP planning and documentation to assure program compliance with Rehab Option and licensing standards.
- Monitors and maintains accurate and complete records and charts, including clinical, financial, safety and incident reports in accordance with Adult Residential protocols in order to meet licensing standards as well as state, federal and area guidelines. Ensures accurate reporting, recording and communication of resident's conditions, behaviors and progress towards IAP goals on an ongoing basis and during shift changes to ensure continuity of care.
- Performs duties of subordinate staff as needed and other related duties as required.
- Assists residents in a teaching atmosphere to educate them in ADL skills such as personal hygiene, housekeeping, clothing maintenance and nutrition by use of, supportive counseling techniques, role modeling, and other individual or group methods to promote resident growth.
- Responsible for structuring and encouraging constructive activities with the persons served within the GLE and community by developing recreational and educational programs through monthly person served house meetings, and individual person centered meetings to assist persons served in utilizing their leisure time appropriately and independently within the community.
- Responsible for assisting persons served in obtaining appropriate crisis services as needed.
- Under the supervision of the MAP Director, provides medication administration supports to individual's served assuring that DPH and DMH policies for a MAP Certified Program are implemented and followed across all shifts. Assures that individuals served receive needed medical and psychiatric care, assures the implementation and documenting of medication administration consistent with MAP policies, assures that staff on all shifts files and reports all medication occurrences as required by MAP policy, and that staff seeks consultation from the MAP Director and the program's RN MAP Consultant as needed.
- Coordinates and supervises medication services by MAP Certified staff which includes following through with physicians orders, prescriptions, filling out Residential Information Sheets and checking to ensure that each coincides, ensuring that medications are sufficient to last until the next appointment; and posting medication changes to ensure residents receive the appropriate medication regime.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the principles and correct usage of the English language including grammar, spelling, sentence structure, word meaning and punctuation.
- Knowledge of first aid techniques.
- Knowledge of custodial care problems (personal hygiene, diets, grooming, and dressing) of special resident groups such as psychiatrically impaired individuals.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain harmonious working relationships.
- Ability to exercise patience, empathy and understanding.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate with others.
- Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and coaching or helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Ability to coordinate members of a work group to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring subordinates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MAP Certification
- Knowledge of Medication Administration Program.
- Experience working with individuals with mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
- Experience transitioning individuals from inpatient setting through stages to more independent living.
- Experience overseeing a 24/7 residential program for adults with mental illness.
- Experience overseeing a program budget.
- Supervision of a multi-disciplinary team.
Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this position, incumbents work under stressful situations and under time pressures.
- Applicants may be exposed to verbal and/or physical confrontations and potentially dangerous environments.
- Incumbents will work weekends and holidays and may work extended hours.

On Grounds Program is part of the Taunton/Attleboro Site that transitions clients from an inpatient setting to a more independent community living setting. Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
At least four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in counseling, guidance, teaching or therapeutic services for individuals with developmental disabilities, of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Substitutions:
- A Bachelor's degree with a major in social work, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human services or education of people with physical and/or learning disabilities may be substituted for two (2) years of the required nonsupervisory experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.
- A Master's or higher degree in social work, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human services or education of people with physical and/or learning may be substituted for an additional year of the required nonsupervisory experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.
- One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
- No substitution will be permitted for the required supervisory experience.
Licenses:
Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
