The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) is the state's lead office for information technology. We provide enterprise level information technology services including network management and security; computer operations; application hosting; desktop provisioning and management; and, modern and responsive digital services to 40,000 internal stakeholders plus the residents, business owners and visitors to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

About the Role

EOTSS is seeking to hire a Municipal and School Technology Intern to join the EOTSS Office of Municipal and School Technology. The Office of Municipal and School Technology (OMST) services municipalities and school districts across the Commonwealth. We provide information about and administer technology grants available to local government, create opportunities for regional in-person and virtual collaboration, provide technical assistance on community technology initiatives, and promote state resources that can improve local government operations.

The Municipal and School Technology Intern will learn what is it like to be part of day-to-day operations. The intern will assist in the administration of internal and external data, to ensure data integrity for the OMST team and program participants. The intern will contribute to the management of participant user lists and the necessary preparation for submittal to Proofpoint. The intern will review communication drafted for participants about important program information and provide feedback. They will also participate in weekly calls with Proofpoint for key takeaways and action items for the team and perform some data analysis to provide insights and trends.

The primary work location for this role will be One Ashburton Place, Boston, Massachusetts 02108. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM EST. This position would be expected to follow a hybrid model of reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from home days as needed.

All offers of employment into this position are conditional and subject to passing: a Massachusetts Criminal Background Check (CORI); a security clearance (fingerprinting) consistent with IRS and/or public safety requirements; and security training.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in the administration of internal and external data, to ensure data integrity for the OMST team and program participants

• Review communication drafted for participants about important program information, and provide feedback

• Contribute to the management of participant user lists and the necessary preparation for submittal to Proofpoint

• Participate in weekly calls with Proofpoint for key takeaways and action items for the team

• Perform some data analysis to provide insights and trends

• Based on acquired program knowledge, provide recommendations on improvements

Preferred Qualifications

• A willingness to learn

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• MS Excel and MS Word experience

• Database knowledge, SharePoint helpful

• Willingness to participate as a team member

• Ability to work actively and productively remotely

• Some knowledge of Municipal government
