The Department of Conservation and Recreation's mission is to protect, promote and enhance our commonwealth of natural, cultural and recreational resources for the wellbeing of all. Job Opening:

The Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Water Supply Protection's Quabbin/Ware Region seeks applicants for the position of Environmental Services Specialist IV.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbents keep buildings in a clean and orderly condition; maintain the appearance and cleanliness of floors; wash interior surfaces of buildings such as walls, ceilings, windows, etc; maintain grounds around buildings; empty waste receptacles; move furniture and perform related work as required. The essential purpose of this work is to provide cleaning/maintenance services to ensure that assigned premises are appropriately cleaned and maintained.

DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition by using a combination of activities, including cleaning and making minor repairs to buildings using hand tools and equipment.
  • Performs cleaning functions, including the cleaning and waxing of floors, window washing, waste removal, and cleaning restrooms.
  • Washes interior surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and windows.
  • Performs outside duties such as washing windows, sweeping walks, and removing snow and ice.
  • Make inspection tours to ensure that buildings and appurtenances are properly secured, and that standards of safety, sanitation, and cleanliness are properly maintained.
  • Performs related duties such as the requisitioning of supplies and equipment ; the maintaining of records and the preparation of reports.
  • Set up meeting rooms as requested in the reservation calendar.
  • Other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in building custodial or institution housekeeping work, and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
