Description: Drinking Water Intern
This internship supports the goals of the Safe Drinking Water Act by assisting the Drinking Water Program with projects focused on water quality, compliance, source protection, technical assistance, and public outreach. This is a great opportunity for students interested in environmental science, public health, or water resources to gain hands-on experience in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct research and gather data related to drinking water systems
- Assist with data entry, document updates, and development of outreach materials
- Support source water protection and compliance initiatives
- Participate in field visits and staff meetings
- Write an article for the Drinking Water Program newsletter
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Course work in either environmental sciences, community planning, geography, geology, earth science or public health.
- Computer skills, including working knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Office suite and virtual meeting platforms, such as Teams.
- Solid reading and writing skills.
- Basic understanding and ability to use databases.
- Ability to work independently and as a team, and in an organized manner with strong attention to detail.
