DEPUTY DIVISION CHIEF

CRIMINAL BUREAU

WHITE COLLAR & PUBLIC INTEGRITY DIVISION

The Attorney General's Office is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and skilled attorney to serve as Deputy Division Chief of the White Collar & Public Integrity Division.

The White Collar & Public Integrity Division is a statewide division under the Criminal Bureau of the Attorney General's Office. This Division consists of a team of statewide prosecutors, who partner with the Massachusetts State Police, other law enforcement, civilian investigators, and victims witness advocates, to handle a broad range of criminal cases, spanning financial crime and public corruption. Financial crime includes fiduciary embezzlement by professionals, complex financial frauds, and tax fraud schemes. Public corruption includes a vast array of schemes involving public officials, public institutions, and public funds.

Primary Duties:

The Deputy Division Chief works with the Division Chief to oversee the work of the White Collar & Public Integrity Division and is entrusted with both administrative and substantive responsibilities. The Deputy Division Chief assists the Division Chief in the day-to-day management and supervision of the Division's Assistant Attorneys General and staff. Supervisory responsibilities include organizing, evaluating, and assigning cases and investigations; overseeing the investigation and prosecution of cases; reviewing search warrants sought in connection with investigations; reviewing and editing internal memoranda; and mentoring Division staff and assisting them with skills development.

The Deputy Division Chief also handles their own caseload of primarily financial crime and public integrity matters, from investigation through sentencing. The Deputy Division Chief's work involves the evaluation of intakes and referrals for potential investigation and prosecution; the formulation and execution of investigative strategies; extensive collaboration with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies; analysis of financial and other documents; interviewing witnesses; conducting document and witness-intensive grand jury investigations; preparing immunity and/or cooperation agreements; making charging, venue, and plea-bargaining recommendations.

Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt.

Location: Boston, MA. Our hybrid model may include some telework days for the successful candidate. For the first six months in the position, the Deputy Division Chief may be expected to work in the office at least three days per week.

Salary: $126,531

Qualifications

Position Requirements :

• Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar or eligible for admission in short order.

• Minimum of seven (7) years of full-time legal experience, including significant experience as a prosecutor or defense attorney, in white collar or other complex criminal litigation.

• Ability to develop, lead, and oversee complex, challenging, and sensitive criminal investigations.

• Ability and desire to handle multiple complex and challenging priority matters simultaneously.

• Ability to successfully manage all members of a large internal and external investigative team, develop strong working relationships with outside agencies, and effectively represent the Commonwealth and the Attorney General before federal and state courts, agencies, and the public; prior management experience is strongly preferred.

• Ability to exercise good judgment, and to think strategically and practically in high-pressure environments.

• E xcellent written and verbal communication skills.

• A valid Massachusetts driver's license is required, as travel is necessary to various courts.
